Rationalism and empiricism are two contrary views about the sources of knowledge. The basic idea of rarionalism is thar we attain knowledge by a process of reasoning from self-evident forst principles. Empiricism claims that knowledge comes from perception.Rationalism was at the height of its influense during the seventeenth century, but many elements od empiricism are accepted by xontemporary philosophers.
합리주의와 경험주의는 지식의 근원에 대한 대조적인 두 관점이다. 합리주의의 기본적 관점은 자명한 제1의 원리의 과정에 의해 지식을 획득한다는 것이다. 경험주의는 지식이란 지각에서 나온다고 주장한다. 17세기 동안 합리주의의 영향은 한창이엇으나 합리주의의 몇몇 요소들은 여전히 영향력이 있다. 가장 유명한 경험주의자 철학자들은 17세기 후반에서 18세기 중반에 이르는 시기동안 기록했으나 경험주의의 많은 요소들은 현재의 철학자들에 의해 받아들여진다.
